Moving In and Around Maypearl

Maypearl is on Farm Road 66, ten miles southwest of Waxahachie in western Ellis County. The town took its name in 1903 in honor of the daughters of two railroad officials, and its schools are part of Maypearl ISD. For a rural place off FM 66, tell us how the truck reaches the house, and we will plan the right truck and crew. For moves to the county seat, see our Waxahachie movers.

Maypearl History, Parks and City Services

The settlement was first called Eyrie and had a post office from 1894 to 1903. It was established on the International and Great Northern Railroad line in 1903, renamed Maypearl on June 25 of that year, and incorporated in 1910. The Maypearl Cemetery historical marker stands on FM 157 just north of town.

The city athletic fields and sports complex are at 5720 FM 66, and Wilemon Park is on Reagan Street; the city rents out pavilions at both. Maypearl ISD covers 84 square miles west of Waxahachie and south of Midlothian, with Lorene Smith Kirkpatrick Elementary, Maypearl Middle School and Maypearl High School, home of the Panthers. The City of Maypearl handles water, sewer and regular trash pickup itself through its utility office at 104 E Second St (see utility services), and it holds a city-wide cleanup twice a year with curbside pickup of larger items, which helps when you are settling in. Scarborough Renaissance Festival is also on FM 66.
