Moving to Corsicana and Across Navarro County

Corsicana is the Navarro County seat, a short drive down I-45 from our Ennis office. Richland-Chambers Reservoir lies about twenty miles southeast of town. If your property has a long driveway or a gravel road, tell us about access when you request your quote so we can plan the right truck and crew. Read more in our guide to moving to Corsicana. New to town? The City of Corsicana website is the place to set up city services, and the Corsicana & Navarro County Chamber of Commerce is a good way to find local businesses and events.

Downtown Corsicana, Lake Halbert and Navarro College

Corsicana was established in 1848 as the seat of the new Navarro County and is named after the island of Corsica. In 1894, drillers finishing a water well a few blocks from the business district struck oil, making Corsicana the site of the first commercial oilfield in Texas, a history the town marks each year at Derrick Days, first held in 1976. It is also home to the Collin Street Bakery, known for its fruitcakes.

Downtown has been an official Texas Main Street City since 1985, and its original brick streets now mix with restaurants, music and theater venues, antiques, boutiques and loft living. The Arts and Entertainment District runs along Sixth Avenue between Beaton Street and Main Street, the Navarro County Courthouse restoration was finished in 2016, and the Visitor Center sits in a restored 1895 railroad freight office at S. Beaton St. and W. 7th Ave. Navarro College, with the Pearce Museum in its Cook Education Center, is on W. 7th Avenue, and Lake Halbert, a 603-acre city lake, is just southeast of town. To start city utilities, complete a Residential Service Application at the Utility Billing Office, 200 N 12th Street, with your lease or purchase agreement and ID; orders started after 1 p.m. are processed the next business day. See the city utilities page.

A Recent Move Into Corsicana

One recent job moved a family from Ennis into a home in Corsicana over two days. Rain stopped the first day after 5.5 hours, which our three movers used to wrap and prepare the furniture. Because of a sloped driveway, day two ran with two trucks and four movers, staging one truck off site and swapping it in for loading, and the move wrapped up in 10.25 hours.
